Brussels, BELGIUM—This morning a local recruiter, Martin Lapine, left a voicemail on a candidate’s phone after calling her and receiving no answer.
“Hi Kim, this is *unintelligible audio* from the company *unintelligible audio*. It is ten hours and eight minutes on Monday May the second and I want to share with you a great opportunity” he said in an overly-optimistic tone. “I have tried calling you in the past and sent emails, but have not had much luck.”
According to sources, Martin, had little to no idea no one leaves voicemails anymore, ever.
“I feel like people might still be happy to go to their voicemail, listen and follow the robot-like lady’s instructions until they get access to the voicemail. And, if it’s not the case, at least I know their phones will keep on ringing to remind them they have a voicemail. This is a great way get messages across”, said Martin to a local reporter.
“When I see I have 4 voicemails, I know it’s a recruiter because not even my dad who’s a boomer leaves me voicemails anymore”, commented the candidate in disbelief.
