BREAKING: Company Convinced Adding “Ninja” To Job Description Will Attract Twice As Many Candidates

A ninja dressed in traditional black attire holds a weapon in a defensive stance in a rustic Japanese alley, surrounded by wooden structures and tools under the soft glow of a setting sun.

LIEGE, BELGIUM—A super smart idea was put on the table during a recruitment meeting whose goal was to brainstorm ways to attract more talented technical candidates to their company.

“I think if we add the word ‘Ninja’ to our job description we will transmit the feeling that here in this company we are all not just normal people, but rather people who are skilled in the Japanese art of ninjutsu,” suggested Jean Durand, a senior recruiter who had recently taken a copywriting course for recruiters.

“I am convinced this new strategy will show our deep understanding of the real interests of technical candidates. I’m sure all of them believe ninjas are super cool. So, why wouldn’t they apply to our “Ninja Devops” job and go for a boring devops job? With this new campaign, we expect at least twice as many applicants”.

At the time of publishing, new ideas had emerged such as replacing “AWS” for “Ninja Sword”, “Jenkins” for “straight-bladed katana”, and “Terraform” for “Ninjato”.
